Overview
This lesson can be broken down into two lessons if needed. It offers designated time for the student groups to complete their Generation Archives and prepare the archives for presentation. Individual classrooms will have different media at their disposal and, in turn, this may inform ideas on how students will present their work. For example, some classes may choose to present on a digital platform while others may choose to exhibit in a physical space. Make decisions and choices as needed based on your class.
Final Presentation/Exhibit of the students’ Generation Archives
The culmination of this module will be the presentation of the students’ Generation Archives. Prior to the presentation, the class can title their exhibit. It is at the teacher’s discretion whether the presentation be only for the class or open to the school community as their Generation Archives Exhibit. If classrooms choose to present a full school exhibit, they might also consider opening it to the larger community.
Presentation Ideas:
When presenting, ask students to move through the entirety of their archive. Suggest that they highlight a few (3-4) examples, pause on them, and describe in greater depth why they incorporated these particular elements. In other words, what do these reveal to us about their generation?
Ask students to conclude by reflecting on what they have learned about a) their own generation and b) what it means to try to represent an entire generation.
